Our farm

We deliver best practice services from our therapeutic care farm

In late 2024 we achieved our dream and opened our new 100 acre therapeutic care farm (affectionately known as ‘the farm’). This amazing environment allows us to provide our supports and services in a natural setting, with lots of outdoor activities and calming spaces, giving all the therapeutic benefits of being in nature.

The farm is based on the outskirts of Mansfield. We’ve built everything to provide a safe, supportive and calming environment. We are lucky to be home to lots of wildlife and native trees and plants, as well as a farm garden.

Our 100 acre farm includes:

Animals

We have four miniature Galloway cows: Twix, Matilda, Buffy and S’mores. We also have three calves who were born this winter and are growing up with us. We have two ponies (Harmony and Melody) who love going for walks around the property. Our sheep Alfie and Sheepy round out our little motley crew of animals. We are working on expanding our animal therapy program – watch this space!

Retreat cabins

We have 12 three bedroom, two bathroom houses with lots of natural light and views of Mt Buller. This is where families stay for our Sprout program and Carer Retreats. They are designed to provide parents with flexibility and peace of mind with features like lockable kitchen drawers, lights and blinds that are controlled from the main bedroom, a TV that is tucked away, external doors that can be locked, and more. Every building is fully accessible, with accessible bathrooms.

Houses

We have three houses, in which we deliver Skill Building Stays, Branching Out and respite. The houses are set up to provide a stable, predictable environment to lower anxiety. Each young person has their own private room and shares a bathroom and living room with only one other. The houses have safe and accessible kitchens and bathrooms where children can learn new skills. The houses also have a parent room where parents can stay to observe the staff working with their children, as part of our family training program.

A multipurpose activity centre

Known as ‘the MAC’, this central space includes a dining room, a commercial kitchen where all meals are prepared, an activity centre and office space for our staff. The MAC dining room is the central hub for our Sprout and Carer Retreat programs, with a fireplace roaring during winter and good, healthy food all year round. The MAC also has a 60m x 30m undercover area that provides all weather outdoor space for recreation and activities.

A high country-style hut

This beautiful hut has been designed to look like the classic high country huts. It offers a relaxing space to meet and connect, with indoor and outdoor fireplaces and beautiful views of Mount Buller.

School building

Our architecturally designed school has five modern classrooms, a sensory play area and offices. It has a heated pool, an inground trampoline, and external learning areas for each classroom. The central observation room has one way windows to the classrooms to make it possible for parents and other professionals to observe the implementation of strategies.

A walking track

A 2.5km walking track winds around the perimeter of the property with beautiful views of the surrounding area. On any day you can see students, clients and staff getting the benefit of walking in nature. Big thanks to Hut2Hut who raised the money for our walking track.

Farm garden

A generous donation from the Harry & Clare Friday Foundation has allowed us to build a farm garden. The students will grow vegetables, herbs and flowers that will be used in our cooking programs and by the kitchen. We will also have a chook shed and lots of chickens!

We are also lucky to be home to lots of trees, kangaroos, ducks, wombats, fish and other wildlife.
