‘Autism: A Family Affair’ campaign

An opportunity to support services that are delivered to the whole family, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to successfully parent their autistic child.

School Building at The Farm

Mansfield Autism has been supporting autistic children to achieve their goals for over 50 years.

Severe autism has a huge impact on the whole family; being an autism parent is a 24/7 commitment and parents are often chronically stressed and tired. Siblings experience higher rates of isolation, depression and anxiety. Autistic children often have alarmingly low attendance rates, and many standard respite facilities refuse children with behaviours of concern. This creates additional isolation and exhaustion – it is common for families to have no breaks, even for a night.

Your generosity will give us the opportunity to fill the significant gaps in funding, wrap services around the whole family, and develop programs such as carer retreats, sibling and family camps, independent living programs, student scholarships, a therapeutic farm garden and the animal therapy program.

All these programs will help realise the full potential of autistic children, giving them more opportunity to participate and connect to the world, with programs especially designed to suit their needs

We have the environment, the tools and the experience to bring about life changing impact with your support.

Mini Galloway Appeal – Animal Therapy Program

Autism: A Family Affair’ campaign’s animal therapy program has been prioritised for urgent funding. Most of the autistic children we support have communication and sensory challenges, feel isolated and not connected to the world around them. Animal therapy provides a calming and non-judgemental space to help develop social skills and general wellbeing. Your support will provide essential funding to purchase miniature Galloway cows, goats and donkeys that have been trained to provide animal assisted therapy.

Gifts will help develop our animal education program, which will help autistic children growth and improve their life skills. This fits in with our philosophy of healthy living, and outdoor experiential learning on the farm.

This is a matched giving program. Thanks to one of our very generous donors, your generosity will go further. For every miniature cow, donkey or goat purchased, our matched giving program will contribute $2,500 towards a safe home for the animals.
